Compare Hosea 6:1 — “Come, let us return to the LORD; for it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up,” and Hebrews 12:5-6 — “And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as children — ‘My child, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, or lose heart when you are punished by him; for the Lord disciplines those whom he loves, and chastises every child whom he accepts’” (see Deuteronomy 8:5).
